The application for our 2021 expeditions is now LIVE at https://apply.inspiringgirls.org
16- and 17-year-old girls* are invited to apply for our tuition-FREE wilderness science expeditions in Alaska, Washington, Colorado, Canada, Switzerland, and Austria. Spend 12 days walking on glaciers, sea kayaking in icy fjords, scrambling on rocks, or paddling down a boreal forest river with like-minded teens and instructors.
Applicants do not need any prior outdoor experience to apply for our expeditions! Our expeditions interweave science, art, and outdoor exploration. We seek engaged, multi-faceted, talented folks who embody the human experience; we believe the diversity of our programs makes our expeditions so much stronger and insightful. Applicants must register to start an application by January 22, 2021. Team announcements will be made in late March.
*Our history began as an organization seeking to create space for girls and women to grow and thrive in historically male-dominated fields. While we acknowledge our name is imperfect, we welcome cis girls, trans girls, and any girl-identified youth, as well as non-binary and gender non-conforming youth.
Inspiring Girls Expeditions & COVID-19
We are hopeful that we will be able to run in-person expeditions in 2021, but we will not make a final decision until the spring of 2021, when we have a better idea of the pandemic’s status.
If we are not able to host our in-person expeditions next summer, we are planning alternative programming similar to what we did this past summer with our Expeditions@Home program, and are considering the possibility of short duration in-person trips. Submitting an application this year is the best way to be considered for all of the options we may offer, so we highly encourage you to apply!
