Pronouns: she/her/hers

I am Salta, a student of  “Earth Sciences in a Changing World” at Jagiellonian University. Growing up in the mountainous region of Almaty, Kazakhstan, I developed a strong connection with nature. Since childhood, I have been passionate about rock climbing and hiking, which led me to pursue my first degree in tourism. During my university years, I was also actively involved in mountaineering, which deepened my understanding of harsh mountain environments.

After graduating in 2018, I worked in the tourism field as a mountain guide and later as a tourism specialist in the national park. In 2021, I moved to the Altai Mountains, where I participated in scientific expeditions, assisting with fieldwork and data collection. These experiences, along with a growing concern about human impact on ecosystems, motivated me to study Earth Sciences in Kraków.

After taking courses in Glaciology and Climate Change, I felt deeply inspired and decided to focus more closely on these topics. I am especially interested in climate change and its impact on glacier retreat and permafrost thaw.

In my free time, I volunteer at animal shelters and enjoy all kinds of outdoor activities, including photography and Irish dance. I am always eager to take on new challenges and share knowledge with others. Volunteering with IGE gives me the chance to connect with like-minded people and contribute something meaningful to the world.
