Pronouns: she/her
Qingping (Ching) Yu is an emerging filmmaker with a passion for telling stories that are deeply connected with diverse cultures, human rights, social and environmental justice. Ching was born in China and spent her young adulthood studying geophysics in Alaska, where she discovered her love for listening to indigenous tales and connecting with the land through a subsistence lifestyle.
Ching is an avid cross-cultural communicator, having previously managed international public relations for the 2022 Winter Olympics freestyle skiing and snowboarding. Her love for skiing led her to fall in love with Canada, where she now lives with her partner Su and their children, raising them to roam wild in the Canadian Rockies.
When not working on her films, Ching can be found pursuing her interests in avalanche and blowing snow research at Coldwater Laboratory, volunteering with Girls on Ice Canada and skiing with her children.
