Hi! Inga here. I grew up in Vermont and spent lots of time outside as a kid falling in love with the mountains and woods. Nowadays, I’m based in the Pacific Northwest and have loved getting acquainted with the landscapes here - a whole different kind of big and beautiful.
My research background is in glaciology and I’m interested in all things ice, but especially in snowy processes atop glaciers across the mountains I enjoy spending time in! In addition to my research field seasons, I’ve instructed on undergraduate field courses and spent a couple seasons in the outdoor industry getting folks excited about glaciers in a variety of contexts. I strongly believe in the Inspiring Girls* mission to broaden access to exploration of art, science and the outdoors in an integrated, hands-on, and community-oriented way. STEM is so much much stronger and more colorful when we recognize it as one part of a much bigger story!
When not working in snowy places (or at my computer), I enjoy climbing warm sandstone in the desert, convincing myself I like (liquid) water sports, and running fast and loose with culinary experiments.
