Maud Galletti

Geologist, Instructor Girls* on Ice Switzerland

Pronouns: she/her/hers

After a bachelor in geology in my hometown in Lausanne, a master in engineering geology at ETH in Zürich, and  working 2.5 years with natural hazards and tunnel constructions, I am currently working at SISKA, the Swiss Institute for cave and karst studies. I work with groundwater, limestone landscapes, maps and a touch of science mediation. Parallel to my job, I take classes to become a photographer.I have always loved to be outside, be it sunny, rainy, cold or windy. Climbing was so natural to me that my parents registered me to the alpine Club so I could climb all those trees and rocks safely. There, with the youth group, I discovered the mountains, first climbing then also moutaineering. Later I decided to pass all I leaned to the next generation and so I have been a mountaineering instructor for about 10 years.Girls* on Ice gives me the chance to share two things I love! Starting as an instructor, I learned the philosophy of respect and acceptance of everyone as they are. It is really inspiring to work with this team and try to pass along the love and respect for mountains and science to teenagers.
