She/her/hers
My name is Laura Jackson and I have been a guide instructor with Inspiring Girls* Expeditions since 2021. As a professional sea kayak guide, 7-12 grade science teacher, and self-proclaimed naturalist, Inspiring Girls Expeditions is the perfect culmination of both my passions and professional skills. I earned my M.S. in Environmental Studies/Climate Change Education at Antioch University New England with a Life Sciences teaching endorsement. I have since been teaching chemistry, biology, and AP environmental science during the school year and have been a sea kayak guide since 2015 in the summer season, teaching marine and forest ecology and wilderness skills along dynamic coastlines in the PNW, British Columbia, Patagonia, Alaska, and Maine.
One of my favorite mottos is “we are all teachers”. Inspiring Girls* Expeditions provides the opportunity for lifelong learning alongside incredible women who are making ripples in the world through science, art, stewardship, and outdoor exploration. I love working for Inspiring Girls* Expeditions because it is a space where individuals and groups can thrive off of one another's accomplishments and curiosities for the natural world, whether that be successfully completing a wet exit in a kayak or discovering a sea star at low tide for the first time. These trips are truly the “gift that keeps on giving” –a lifelong family that welcomes authenticity and celebrates everything that makes us, and the natural communities we interact with, so connected by the various life experiences we bring.
