Kayla Doucette

Youth Expedition Officer, Gear Fairy Volunteer

Pronouns: She/Her

Hi! I am a MSc student in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Alberta, where I study grizzly bear behaviour and human-wildlife coexistence. In the summers, I spend my time with the grizzly bears that I study as a Bear Technician in Kananaskis Country. I have also worked in Banff National Park with the Ecological Integrity Monitoring teams, which took me all over the front- and backcountries of Banff, Yoho, and Kootenay National Parks counting pikas, amphibians, and songbirds. In my free time, I love to explore the mountains on foot, on skis, and on ropes. My favourite missions go from sunrise to sunset (and sometimes beyond). I am so excited to support Girls* on Ice Canada as the Youth Expedition Officer after volunteering for past expeditions as a Gear Fairy and an Application Screener. The expeditions, participants, and instructors are always filled with so much inspiration and magic, and I look forward to contributing a little bit too.
