Ingrid Reiweger

Physicist, snow scientist, mother, youth instructor at the Austrian Alpine Club

She/her/hers

I am a physicist by training, worked as a snow scientist at the WSL Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research SLF in Davos, Switzerland for ten years (2006-2015), and now I am professor for Cryospheric Sciences and Natural Hazards at the BOKU University for Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna, Austria (since 2016). I also worked as a teacher for mathematics at the Alpine Middle School in Davos (2010-2011). I love physics, and a love nature and being outdoors, especially in mountainous areas, so if you add all of this up, my career choice comes naturally. I am also a mother and I really like spending time with / working with young people such as my children, my children’s friends, my friends’ children, my students… together with my career choice this made it easy to volunteer with IGE.
