She/her/hers
Iām a PhD candidate at the Austrian Academy of Science. I study the impact of climate change on rock glaciers and glaciers. My work involves taking water samples, measuring stream levels, and assessing glacier melting rates in the Austrian Alps. And, of course, some office work! The rapid and diverse response of mountains to the changing climate is what inspires me most in my work.
Mountains also fill my free time with activities like climbing, hiking, skiing, and snowboarding. This passion was inherited from my father. However, my parents were conservative and fearful when it came to more challenging mountain pursuits. Since moving to Innsbruck, I have immersed myself in a vibrant mountain community, rapidly improving my basic mountain skills to keep up with my work in the field. Nevertheless, I am still striving to improve and to find my place in the glaciology field.
Through my involvement with Girls* on Ice, I aspire to inspire young girls* in their career and free-time undertakings. The program offers a unique chance for girls* to step out of their comfort zones and embrace new environments. I hope to contribute to demonstrating that mountains, science and glaciers are not limited to men alone.
