Thank you for supporting Inspiring Girls* Expeditions PNW at Oregon State University!

We are a collaborative organization and Oregon State University hosts the curriculum archive, oversees the application and review process, leads the alumni network, and other cross-branch shared resources.

The Pacific Northwest Branch is home to:

Girls* in Icy Fjords, a sea kayaking-based expedition in Kenai Fjords National Park, Alaska.

Girls* on Ice Cascades, a mountaineering-based expedition on Mount Baker, Washington (currently revamping this program due to glacier change).

Girls* in the Forest, a new expedition in the amazing forests of Oregon (currently in the development stages).

Expeditions@Home a home-based expedition where teenagers explore their local landscape while meeting new friends, asking questions, and conducting science and art projects. Currently on hold.

Now, in early 2026, we continue to experience huge uncertainty in our federal funding.

We have been grateful for all of the support we have received in the past from federal sources such as National Science Foundation and NASA.

But that funding is at risk. We are unlikely to receive further federal funding.

This summer, though, we are committed to running Girls* in Icy Fjords.

A gift to the Inspiring Girls* Expeditions Fund at Oregon State University supports costs of our expeditions as well as organization-wide infrastructure, including leadership support, instructor training, risk assessment, and curriculum development.

Your gift to the Inspiring Girls* Expeditions Fund at Oregon State University helps us:

  • Provide a life-changing experience for 9 youth per expedition.

  • Host annual leadership training workshops to help our instructors prepare for their expeditions,

  • Assist with expedition-specific logistics for all of our programs, including maintaining our online application system and preparing our participants for their expeditions,

  • Provide communication tools to help our global Inspiring Girls community stay connected, and

  • Develop new expeditions to reach even more girls!
