Alessandra Garcia
Alessandra Garcia is an athletic, hard-working Latina girl from San Diego who is very interested in biology and the ethics of science. She is passionate about drawing and art in general. She is curious about how to use art and science together. Alessandra is committed to pursuing activities and endeavors that will help herself to become a better person!

Cecilia Marrinan
Cecilia attends a boarding school in New Hampshire, where she balances her time between her academic interests in geology, evolution and biology, and training to become a Division 1 college sprinter. She is an open minded and reliable friend that finds fulfillment in helping others. Cecilia is a hard working young woman with many passions, spanning from creative writing, track running, and political and environmental science.
Dayanira Monge
Dayanira Monge lives in Los Angeles, CA where she focuses on science and medicine in school. Dayanira is a runner who loves to play soccer and wants to study nursing. In her free time, she can be found shadowing doctors at one of UCLA's medical departments.
Dylan McAfee
Dylan McAfee is motivated for the program to learn more about how to do science in the wilderness. She is also excited to learn more about STEAM - or the role that Arts can play in the traditional STEM model of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. She is an African American girl from Washington D.C. whose passions are richly varied: from ceramics to competitive swimming to astrophysics to learning a new hip-hop dance move! She hopes to go to college to study material science and engineering and develop products like eco-friendly planes or more affordable sports clothing.

Heaven Delaney
Heaven Delaney is a very active teenager from Virginia. She has a mixed ethnicity with Japanese, African American and Caucasian heritage. She is very involved with JROTC and plans to enlist in the military - and perhaps Naval college - once she has graduated from high school. Heaven is quite interested in being involved with an all-female program. She is curious about STEM, marine biology, a future with UNICEF or the Peace Corps, and perhaps will pursue being an intelligence analyst!

Lara Fain
Lara Fain, a Vietnamese American girl, has a strong connection with the ocean, and enjoys intense kayak adventures in summer with YMCA Leadership Program and during the school year as part of the Young Women Empowered's Nature Connections program. These programs helped to cultivate her own passion for being outdoors and give her the confidence to connect with others so she can better advocate for urgent climate action. Lara is learning to be politically active and link her passions with asking for changes in state and federal policies to ensure a livable planet for ours and future generations. Lara is also an artist and musician who is hoping to pursue college degree in either ornithology or art.

Mallory Ritchie
Mallory Ritchie is a Iil’wat First Nations girl from a small town called Mt. Currie - named after the majestic peak that lies just north of Whistler, BC. She will be the first in her family to go to college. She is an athletic teenager who is highly interested in marine biology and is hoping to connect her passion for the ocean with her future. Mallory is also artistic and is excited about the opportunities to study art and science in a wilderness setting. She is especially keen to do the Cascades Girls on Ice program - and explore the mountains just south of the border.

Mia Lazar
Mia Lazar is a self-described “artistic science enthusiast” from the Virginia who is passionate about film-making and being outdoors. She’s created a few documentaries so far - and is already winning awards for them! She is very community focused and hopes to build her confidence and leadership so that she can further help people and the environment. Mia is still unsure of her future career path, but imagines that it will be a creative and dynamic one that connects people and their lands through her art, science and film-making.

Yen-Linh Vu
Yen-Linh Vu lives close to Seattle, WA and loves working with her hands, by either making artistic creations with paper or volunteering at her local wetlands. She wants to pursue a career in science and has a passion for the environment. Linh dreams about traveling to Antarctica and through Girls On Ice, she wants to gain confidence to lead her generation towards the use of green energy.
