Acacia lives in a small coastal community in southeast Alaska where she hikes steep mountains, explores rocky beaches, and volunteers at her local youth center. She has a wide variety of interests, from wildlife conservation to learning languages. After participating in some of her school’s cultural clubs, she is determined to explore her home state and the world!
Deborah grew up in Ensenada, Mexico, and currently lives in southern California. She loves camping with her family, enjoys running, and aspires to one day become a marine biologist where she can travel the world doing research. She is thrilled to join the Alaska expedition to strengthen the path toward achieving her dreams.
Emma lives in Los Angeles, California and has a creative spirit that she expresses through art. While enjoying many forms of art, she is particularly enthusiastic about creating her own zines and guerilla art. Emma also enjoys biology, swimming, and yoga.
Jess lives in Fairbanks, Alaska, but spends her summers working on her grandparents’ farm in Washington. She loves working with, sketching, and painting animals and aspires to become a veterinarian. She is excited about getting hands-on experience doing science on a glacier.
Lauren lives in Portland, Oregon where she has been a competitive rock climber since age 11. Lauren is always up for a challenge, so when not rock climbing, she participates in a local youth mountaineering organization.
Lily lives in Eugene, Oregon and dreams of becoming a scientist. Lily has recently taken up roller skating, following her grandmother’s love of the sport. When not outside, Lily can be found reading science fiction and historical fiction books.
Mercedez grew up surrounded by many artists and cultures. She strives to always expand her skills and passions, including painting. Mercedez loves to explore outside and is eager to meet new friends!
Tala is from a small town on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska where she enjoys being outside, exploring, and thinking about science. She takes care of her chickens and helps her family with their charter business. Tala writes stories and recently started a literature club at her school so that she and her peers feel more comfortable sharing their work outside the classroom!
Trinity lives in southern California with her parents, brothers, and dog. She enjoys science classes and takes pride in her lab notebook, which she uses to practice her science communication skills through drawings and clear scientific descriptions. She is excited to get more hands-on experience in science and explore the Arctic as a member of the Alaska expedition.
